We're watching as some of the heaviest rain moves away from the Sioux Falls area. Just a few minutes ago we saw the heaviest rain so far today end in this part of the region - but there is still some heavy rain out there. Before we show a radar image from this time, look at radar estimated rainfall over the last hour - not storm total, but just 1 hour totals:
Those lighter blue to slightly darker blue colors indicate ranges from about 0.05" all the way up to about 0.2" in the Sioux Falls area all the way south toward Canton and beyond. Toward the Northwest you can see some estimates in between Howard and Madison close to about 0.63" of rainfall.
This is what the radar image looked like at the peak time of rainfall in the Sioux Falls area:
Since this radar image it's calmed down a bit, but a look at www.theweatheronline.com shows a larger patch of showers circulating in from the Northwest.
The good news is that clearing is on the way for the weekend. It really should be too bad after tonight's rain clears away - with just a couple of slight drizzle patch chances toward late Saturday night.
Have a great night!
