We've been mentioning the chance of thunderstorms this afternoon for a few days now, and it has definitely been happening. At first we were watching showers develop along the warmer region of this small system - but now we're starting to see a line of thunderstorms develop along the weak cold front moving through.
This was a radar image from just a minute ago, this is what we're watching (on the left/west side):
You can see as I type this that some areas are watching some light drizzle & light rain move through, but the stronger storms (click to zoom in) are more out west right along the Missouri river & near Pierre right now. No severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued just yet, but we wouldn't be surprised to see a few isolated hail-producing severe storms out of this system. Remember, though, that the minimum hail size has been increased from 3/4" hail to 1" hail for a severe t-storm warning to be issued.
We'll update you as necessary with this storm system, but this is the latest!
Have a good & safe night!
