We're seeing our first South Dakota severe thunderstorm now - and it's the same root storm as the one we talked about earlier - as expected. It is moving toward the East right now at about 45mph, eventually getting into our viewing area on the far northwestern edge.

On the upper left corner of this image you can find the normal radar reflectivity you might expect to see on TV. The upper right is velocity going toward & away from the radar (away in red). The bottom left is radar-estimated cloud tops. The bottom right is computer-estimated rotation rates. All of those are important to analyze. Remember as you look at velocity data that it is straight-line data that doesn't know directions.

Have a great night!
