Snowfall Totals

Here are some snowfall totals from this big storm that impacted many of us with snow and all of us with the cold. Also listed are peak wind gusts from late December 8th and early December 9th. Combine those winds with some snow and you have widespread blizzard conditions which were found across more then two dozen counties in our area. These figures are courtesy of the National Weather Service;

In the overall scheme of things, we actually came out of this storm in a lot better shape then many other parts of the country. Up to four feet of snow fell in the mountains of the Southwest, hours of blizzard conditions and 18" of snow left thousands stranded on roads in areas of Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. 100 mph winds in west Texas a long with of freezing rain made travel impossible there. And freezing rain, sleet, and snow pounded the northeast dumping a foot or more in just a few hours time. So, it could have been worse.
