Wild Monday on the Way

OK....so I don't want to sound like an alarmist but the chances of seeing a storm on Monday is becoming increasingly likely. The part that's a little un-nerving is that ALL of the models are not only showing this system making its way though the state on Monday but that they are in extremely good agreement this far out. Typically, the models do not agree where a storm system will go at this point. One might say it will go into Minnesota, another would say Missouri. But the fact that all 3 long rang models track the storm through the state on Monday just means that we are keeping a very close eye on it.

The main reason why we are watching this storm so intently is that it will have a tremendous amount of moisture with it for this time of the year. But the good news for some of us will be that it appears to be a warm storm, meaning that many areas across the East could be dealing with rain instead of snow. However, with Monday still 4 days away, its really anyones guess. But, the potential is there for snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain. Yikes!

I mentioned that this storm will be carrying a lot of moisture. Well, here is a map produced by the Hydrological Prediction Center. This shows how much liquid precipitation they are expecting with this storm.
You can see that much of the Central and Eastern part of the state could get over an inch of liquid precipitation and much of that could actually be rain. For now though, enjoy the sunshine and mild temperatures because things look to get a lot wetter by Monday.
