Monday Storm

Yesterday I talked a lot about the high amount of moisture that this system will have as it works through South Dakota. Here is a forecast of the dew points over South Dakota on Monday. The dew point shows the amount of moisture in the air in a temperature form.If you look closely you can see that dew points of SE South Dakota are actually in the 40's which is incredibly uncommon this time of the year. The moisture is actually coming all the way from the Gulf of Mexico. Now, because the temperature can never dip below the dew point, and with dew points expected to be well above freezing in many areas, spells an early February rain event for much of Eastern South Dakota. Now, we will have to watch surface temperatures very closely as we get closer because with it be February, the threat for freezing rain exists. Its a little too early to tell whether it will happen or not and who will get the most but we will keep you posted on the storms progress.
