Weather is a Rockin

Lots to talk about this morning across the state as we are expecting tremendous November snows and some severe weather later today as well. First about the severe weather. We are now seeing some clearing just off to our south. As the clouds move northeast through the day, the break in the clouds will help to destabilize the atmosphere and will give us a better possibility of severe weather this afternoon.

As for the snow, Aaron gave you a hint at some of the totals that we are expecting across the state from tonight through your Friday. Well, things still look on target for that because the low is developing right where we thought it would, right in the center of South Dakota. This is a map of the current surface conditions across the U.S.

The heaviest of the snow still looks to fall in the Missouri river valley where we can expect 6-10" of the white stuff. Looks like the I-29 corridor will dodge the heart of this storm with places in the Northeast expecting 2-5". Southeast South Dakota can expect 1-3" and much of Iowa can expect little if any accumulation. Blizzard watches and warnings have been posted for areas East of the James river so I would highly advise against any travel in those areas tonight or tomorrow. Stay safe!
