Snow Is Falling - And Lots Of It!

Let's be thankful for a moment that we live in the eastern maybe 2/3 of South Dakota or the other areas of the Sioux Empire. We've seen snowfall reports in the Rapid City area and the Spearfish/Deadwood/Lead areas of 40 or more inches of snow!

Look at that webcam image! That image is actually one you can visit yourself by going to SafeTravelUSA's South Dakota page or dialing 511 for the latest road conditions.

Farther toward the East we've been watching snow close in on the Sioux Falls area from our KDLT studio. We've already picked up 1.5" as I am writing this in the Brookings area, so get ready for some if you are reading this and haven't seen a flake fall yet. The good news is that we aren't looking for too much in the Sioux Falls area and beyond - but more than none, which is what we've officially seen so far this season.

That image above is from a webcam in Watertown - this was taken at about the same time that the city was reporting winds of 20mph sustained with gusts close to 30mph.

Please take some pictures and send them to us even if they look boring to weather@kdlt.com and we'll make sure to put them on-air and/or on our blog.

Have a nice evening and drive safe!
