Well, it's been cool or cold and cloudy for several days now... and I know you are probably just as anxious for sunny skies and warmth as I am. Yesterday when the sun came out at night I found myself nearly blinded by it - after not having seen that elusive sun since last Friday... Now that we are waiting for sunny skies and warmth (and we'll talk more about that warmth in a bit), you have probably noticed a lot more severe weather activity around the area. They haven't been happening where we live - but elsewhere, including my old stomping grounds of Wyoming (I used to be the morning meteorologist for NBC For Wyoming).
You've probably heard about the VORTEX project, but if not then click here for more information... and here is what they caught last Friday during some unusual storms:
Now, as for some warming... we are finally starting to see that possibility. It'll start on Thursday - but after that just how much we'll warm up is the big question.
The models are hinting at some upper 70s by the end of the weekend, so we'll start there - but know that we are skeptical until we see a few more consistent model runs on the major warm-up.
These highs would occur Sunday afternoon - and you can see they look quite splendid - so hopefully we'll see at least something close to those levels... Stay tuned.
