You wouldn't think so but it came awfully close to happening in South Dakota. But that was a reality for some people in southwestern North Dakota this morning. Dickinson, North Dakota report light to moderate snow for about 4 hours earlier today and picked up 1 or 2 inches in spots. You can see this on a surface chart below. I circled both locations that were reporting snow. The Astrix marks (**) is the symbol for snow falling.
This is just the third time in the last 70 years that the state of North Dakota has seen snow in accumulating snow in the month of June. Now, nobody in our neck of the woods saw any snow as temperatures have remained at or above 40 degrees, so that is a relief to many of us. And don't expect any either as temperatures will remain very chilly, but at this point it will just be a cold rain.
