I'm sure you've all seen us post this type of map before, it's from the
Storm Prediction Center. They put out the slight risks, moderate risks and high risks for severe weather. After 16 tornado touchdowns, over 70 hail reports and over 10 high wind reports in the past week, we're going to finally get a bit of a break from severe weather for awhile.
I circled this coming week and it's chance of severe weather in red. You can see there's a slight risk for today, Sunday and Monday but these are severe risks for the entire nation. If you check out the website itself and click on the word "Slight" for
Sunday you'll see that the risk isn't in our area, same story for
Monday. After Monday there isn't supposed to be any severe weather for the rest of the week. Now of course things can change - the closer we get to the end of the week, the better the forecast gets so we could still see some severe weather spark up, but it's not likely to have a serious of severe weather outbreaks like we did last week. Bad news for storm chasers but great news for insurance agents. ;)
I'm currently keeping my eyes on some showers and storms pushing north that will keep the rain going into the morning hours for Dad's Day, but these aren't expected to be severe and they should be out of our neck of the woods near noon.
