Round number 2 of severe weather once again in central and western SD. Those storms will continue to push East. The cell in Meade county, 15 miles NNW of Ellsworth AFB produced a tornado at 4:56MDT, not sure on where it ranked on the EF scale just yet. Expect hail and heavy rain with some strong wind gusts to be the main products from these storms through the evening and night hours.
We'll see round number 3 tomorrow almost in the same area, just a bit further south. We do need the rain, no matter how gloomy it may look. This is the current drought monitor for our area. The area in the yellow is abnormally dry. Thankfully we aren't in the moderate and severe drought stages and hopefully with the rainfall we're expecting over the next two days won't be and maybe we can even get out of this abnormally dry state we're in.
This is just one model showing how much rain to expect over the next 24 hours so folks in the SE will get some of that much needed rain... folks in central SD will as well.

Looks like some of this rain in SE SD could fall pretty fast and heavy at times in the afternoon and evening, so get those umbrellas and wiper blades ready!
