Weekend Travel Hazards

So you are working on finalizing your plans for some weekend travel... well, you are in luck! We are going to detail just what you can expect for both Saturday and Sunday.

We'll start with Saturday - and things are looking quite nice for Saturday. Here's what you can expect:

1. Not too many clouds - and definitely not many showers. It is looking to be fairly dry and sunny for Saturday.

2. Wind. The bad news is that we are looking for a pretty strong southerly wind throughout the day on Saturday - actually picking up for some of us by Sunday.

3. Warmth. Things look quite nice temperature-wise for Saturday, with highs reaching up close to the upper 50s to lower 60s for most of us by Saturday afternoon.

For Sunday, things look a bit more hazardous - but still not necessary unsafe or dangerous.

1. Wind again. Winds hang around and actually pick up at times as a storm system builds in from the South and the Southwest. Look for 10-25mph sustained winds, with an occasional gust up in the mid 30mph range.

2. Rain. We aren't looking for too much accumulation, but you can expect some showers to move through the area. Most of them will just be enough to warrant a quick windshield wiper usage, and to possibly wet the road. We're not looking for widespread rain accumulations.

3. Slightly cooler. As clouds will inhibit most of our warming potential, we are still looking for a more "springish" day, with temperatures still in the middle 50s for most of us.

Have a great weekend! Make sure to check out SafeTravelUSA's South Dakota page for all the latest road conditions and webcams.
