Another Storm This Weekend

The next system will be moving into South Dakota late Friday through Sunday. At this point, the storm looks colder then the last one so despite the fact that most of the state will start out as rain, it is likely that it will switch over to snow quickly for all areas. However, exact accumulation amounts are still a little fuzzy as models are disagreeing on the exact placement of the heaviest bands of snow. Here is what two different models are forecasting for snow totals.Notice the first one is just one solid line of heavy snow that goes through parts of southern South Dakota. But the second picture shows two different areas of snow and a little void in between with very little accumulation. So it will be interesting to watch and see which one comes out correct. Winter Storm Watches already posted for the Winner area and it is likely that the National Weather Service will issue more during the day today that will include most if not all of southern South Dakota.
