A Unique Day in the Plains

An event that doesn't occur all that often is happening today across the center part of the country. I mentioned it in the show this morning so if you missed it, here is what I'm talking about. Take a look at the two pictures below and see if you notice something strangely similar. These are the forecasts from the National Weather Service for the southeastern part of our area and for the Dallas/Fort Worth area. You should notice something pretty quickly. Many areas across Southern South Dakota will actually be a couple degrees warmer then temperatures in Dallas. This may not seem like much but it is definitely not normal considering the average high in Dallas this time of the year is in the low 70's. We don't average highs in the 70' until the latter half of May.

The good news is that our warming trend will continue through the weekend and into early next week. Just to give a sneak peak at some of the potential highs on Monday, here is one of our forecast models that shows widespread 60's across southern South Dakota. Enjoy!
