Snow

Continuing to talk about the snow for this upcoming weekend. Still looks like southeastern South Dakota has the highest likelihood of seeing the most snowfall. The Hydrological Prediction Center (HPC) has refined their forecast on the amount of snow that is anticipated. They say that there is at least a 40% probability that the area inside the green line on the picture below, will get 4 or more inches of snow. This targets extreme southeastern South Dakota including Yankton, Vermillion, and Sioux Falls. The National Weather Service (NWS) has also refined their forecast which is very similar to what I forecasted this morning for the today show.
The NWS has a swath of 2-4" of snow from the Lake Andes area all the way into Minnesota and Iowa. As of right now, this looks like the best estimate. But things can change because the precipitation will likely start out as rain and then change over to snow. If this occurs faster or slower then currently expected, then we could get greater or lesser amounts of the white stuff. I'm hoping for more because I love the snow!
