Shower Chances Tonight

Looks like the models finally are agreeing that there will be some scattered showers across the south tonight as a mid-level convergence zone works its way off to the south. This zone basically helps to provide extra lift to parcels in the atmosphere; that forms clouds and then eventually some rain. Here are what the models are saying.I wouldn't expect a whole lot from this little boundary, even though one of the models shows Sioux Falls getting nearly a quarter of an inch. These small events are typically overdone by the models in terms of amount of precipitation so I wouldn't expect more then a few hundredths of an inch even if you see anything at all.

But if you are looking forward to the rainy season, you may not have to wait long as Aaron briefly mentioned yesterday. A big storm looks to be on the horizon for the latter part of the weekend and early next week. So get ready cause the thunderstorms may come a bit early this year.

Is it going to be severe??

Don't worry - it should not be severe. It's likely we won't see any thunder out of this batch whatsoever.

We'll be watching this weekend's weather for any stronger thunderstorm development.
