The Warmth

The warmer weather that we have been promising for a couple days now is coming but we just have to get through one more extremely cold day. An impressive amount of warm air will be making its way into the state as early as tomorrow. Look at the pictures below. This is a time lapse, sort of, of the temperatures over the next 48 hours. I wanted to show the whole country because you can just see the wedge of cold air over the east and the ridge over the west. The first image is this mornings' temperatures followed by Friday morning and then Saturday morning. You can see just this tremendous cold air over the east begin to shift eastward and actually begin to warm. This will eventually take South Dakota out of the deep freeze and areas west river could be seeing highs in the fifties as early as Sunday. So just make it through today and the January thaw will be on our doorstep!
