Flurries Tonight, Two More Rounds To Come!

Here's a current look at the radar - a few heavier returns, but this is just a bunch of larger, light snowflakes that I'm going to just call light snow, maybe even flurries, but this should accumulate to just around a half inch, nothing to get too excited about. However - like Aaron said... we've got 2 systems to worry about. Here's a look at what the bukit sounding is saying for the next few systems:

The one I circled on the far right is the system I'm showing on radar - so again, tonight, expect about a half an inch. Sunday night and into Monday afternoon expect round number one (that's the circle in the middle) so Sioux Falls should pick up 1-2 inches from that system. The final clipper system we are watching out for will start up Tuesday evening where we could see the most snow we've seen for awhile - right around 3 inches for many places in South Dakota with isolated higher amounts possible. After these systems head out of here however... we're looking at cold but sunny stretch in the 7-day. More on that in future posts!

Are we above average for snow this year? This next storm looks bad!

As far as snow goes... for the month, we are .3 inches below normal value, but since Dec. 1st we are up 5.2 inches, however if you look at the entire winter season, we are down just .1 inches... meaning we are pretty much right on track for snowfall. November we were below average for snowfall, December was above average, and right now we're just a bit under... looks like nothing too extreme thus far. But yes, this next storm looks bad, but mainly because of the winds... no lie - South Dakota is one of the 5 windiest states! ~JR
