The National Weather Service just upgraded their severe weather outlook to a moderate risk for some of the viewing area. This is just the second time this season that this has occurred for our area.
To give you some perspective, we average about 2-3 moderate risk days per year. This is just a rough estimate but you get the idea of how rare this really is. Looks like the main component to the severe weather will be damaging winds. Here are the probabilities like I showed you yesterday.
Hopefully we wont see a repeat performance of the derecho event we had last year across northern South Dakota. So keep your eyes to the sky today and tonight because things can erupt very quickly.
