Cooler Today

It will likely be cooler today as mid and high level clouds will hang on through much of the morning and could linger through the afternoon. Also, colder air is beginning to work its way in from North Dakota this morning behind a cold front. This can be seen in the image below. The image is from this morning at 850mb.
That northerly wind is dropping those temperatures which are labeled in the red.

Clouds could also hang tough through the mid levels. This image below is a forecast for relative humidities during the afternoon hours at 500mb (about 12000 ft).
This shows that there will likely be a good layer of clouds through much of South Dakota which will hold those temperatures down a bit as well. Catch the seven day forecast on our newscast because it looks like summer may be holding off just a bit longer.

It's always amazing how many parts of the sky you and Aaron have to look at to get your forecasts. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for your kind words Anonymous (we are pretty sure that isn't really your name, but we have nothing else to go by). We put quite a bit of work into each of our forecasts, so it's great to hear that people like you notice.
