Cool and Wet Weekend Ahead

It has been reasonably cool so far this spring with just a day or two here and there of really warm weather. The cool trend is likely to continue right through the weekend as a storm system will work its way into South Dakota. But the good news is that this weekend will likely be the first time in a few weeks that all of South Dakota stands to get some good rainfall. Its needed because many areas are 1-4" below average as Aaron mentioned yesterday. Here is a look at the rainfall we are expecting over the next 5 days forecasted by the Hydrological Prediction Center (HPC).The rainy weekend will be accompanied by cooler temperatures as well as highs could be as much as 25 degrees below average in spots. Just look at what one model is forecasting for highs on Saturday. This model shows highs for areas of the north only in the upper 40's and the south struggles to hit 60. I think this might be a little cold but highs in the 50's and 60's can definitely be expected. However, temperatures will be highly influenced by rainfall so the more we get, the cooler it will be.
