We've upped the snowfall forecast for a lot of you, so make sure you take a good look at this map. It's mostly valid for about 6pm to the North and the West, until about 12pm Wednesday. For the most part it looks like those of us between about Mitchell and Sioux Falls can expect around 2-3" of snow, with the bulk of that falling between midnight and 6am.
It's going to be interesting to see the totals after this storm - because all the computer models are putting NE SD into basically a no snow to flurries scenario. We've already seen reports of snow near Aberdeen and Miller as of this writing, and some places are reporting heavy snow. Remember that if you see anything falling out of the sky we are always looking for pictures and things of interest to show on-air.
Here is what you can expect tonight:
6pm To 10pm: Light snow moves farther to the South and starts to pick up.
10pm To Midnight: Closer to midnight, light snow starts to change over to some more moderate snow, even in the Sioux Falls area. I will be staying up to watch the snow start to fall, so if it takes longer I'll probably be a bit more tired for Wednesday...
Midnight-6am: This is the period of time that we will look for the bulk of the snow to fall. Look for, again, somewhere between 2-3 inches of snow to fall where you live if you live withing 50-100 miles north or south of I-90.
Plan on using that shovel tomorrow morning and leave a little extra time to brush off your car as you head off to work!

Why cant you at least send us one decent snowstorm? What do we have to do for at least 5 or 6 inches of snow.
Aaron...
Do you remember the winter of 1997. I don't think you where in SD in 97. I was out of school for a mounth. I finished that year in january. It would be interesting to do some research on that year. It might have been recording breaking. That was a year to remember.
Cals
I meant to say finished school in june

Cals -
I will have to take a look at that year. It's definitely fun to get some good snow and such.
Hopefully the first anonymous poster will be happy with 2-3" that we're likely to get around Sioux Falls. We've already got 1-2 tenths of an inch as this system gets started.
