Well, Cody stole the show in the last post with the cold potential for next Wednesday. The good news is that the coldest core has shifted a bit toward the East. The other good news is that we'll be warming up right away after that cold snap.
The bad news (besides that cold potential)? Well, we have 2 more little bouts with snow to get through before we see those cold masses of air move over us. The first looks to arrive Friday night into early Saturday, and the second looks to arrive Sunday late morning/early afternoon to Monday.
Here is a look at what the computer models are thinking snow-wise for the first little storm:
Just based on this image you can see light precipitation in those shades of blue and green. The light blue implies what would likely be about a tenth of an inch of snow in the Sioux Empire area. You might notice the greener shades over the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. They might be in for a little more snow than us - potential an inch or so.
Looking ahead toward Sunday-Monday, we get a more gradual snow process. The snow will build in from the West - so if you're watching KDLT from Pierre or Mobridge areas near the Missouri River Valley, you might get a dose of snow first.
Here's what it'll be like on Sunday at about noon. You can see more shades of blue over us. If the computer models and reality both play out the same, we might get an inch to 1.5" of snow Sunday to Monday. Stay tuned to KDLT and our weather blog for any more details as we get them.
