Well, we meet again tonight - and under less frigid circumstances... We're seeing our second night in a row of gradual warming. It doesn't happen very often, although it's not the rarest of weather phenomena. The last time we saw gradual warming for 2 nights in a row was from December 25-26 of 2008, so just about 3 weeks ago.
The best news? The warming continues through Saturday. We'll see a couple different weak cold fronts floating around this weekend. The main cooling to keep in mind will be Sunday.
Here's what the models are thinking for highs Saturday:
If you look closely, you'll notice a bit of a temperature contrast with 30s - 40s across South Dakota and the Sioux Empire. Remember that when I show you these types of maps that they are just what a computer model is thinking, not what will actually happen - although usually it gives you a general idea.
With that said, look at what the models are thinking for next Friday's high temperatures:
You can see those teens and low 20s diving in from the North. We will likely see some colder air make its way in - but how cold is the question. This far in the future I am *very* hesitant to ever put much faith into computer models. As we often say in the weather community - if days 7-10 of the computer models always came true, there would be blizzards and tornadoes all over the place every day.
That being said, have a great weekend! Enjoy the warmer temperatures!
