From the looks of things this morning, it looks like it is going to get very windy by the end of the week and continue to be just as cold, if not colder then it has been. Here is what Im referring to; The wind barbs on this map (they look like little flags that change their orientation all over the map) represent winds over the state of South Dakota on Friday sustained anywhere between 15-30 knots. Which is basically 20-40 mph. Combined with winds just above the surface, we could see gusts over 50 mph. The breezy conditions will start tomorrow (Thursday) and are expected through the day on Saturday.
Not only will we have to deal with the winds but it looks like it is going to be quite cold as well. This map is produced by the Climate Prediction Center and has areas of interest highlighted over the next 7 days or so. As you see, the Eastern half of the state is circled with not only the high winds and blowing snow, but also much below average temperatures for November 14 and15.
So hang on to your hats cause the next couple of days could get pretty wild.
