What month is it?

We just started the month of December and it's already feeling like the middle of January as an arctic airmass moves in. I realize I show this graphic alot but its one of the main ones you look at to forecast temperatures. Very cold air at 850mb translates to cold temperatures at the surface as well. These cold temperatures in combination with the northwest wind of 20-25 knots (25-35mph) that constantly ushers in cold air, means that there will be little warming this afternoon and wind chills near zero for most of the day. Now keep in mind, that we are expecting winds at the surface between 10-20 mph but some of those upper level winds could get mixed in at times so gusts could hit 25mph. Its that time of the year where we start thinking about frostbite so layer the clothing as much as you can. Stay warm!!
